Meet Matt

Matt is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer and behaviorist with a passion for building strong bonds between humans and their dogs. Matt began his professional career at Animal Behavior College, where he became a certified Professional Obedience Trainer and member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers. During his time at Animal Behavior College, Matt also became a member of the Canine Behavior and Training department at the Humane Society of Sonoma County. While at HSSC, he taught dog training group classes, conducted behavioral evaluations, and private training sessions for shelter dogs and pets in the community.

Since returning to Reno, his previous home for 10 years, Matt is now Canine Behavior & Transfer Coordinator at the Nevada Humane Society, where he spends his time caring for and training local homeless dogs; preparing them for their forever homes. Matt is an Alumni of the University of Nevada, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Geophysics and Mathematics. He believes this background in science prepared him with the skills necessary to break down complex behavioral cases with care and attention to detail.

Outside of work, Matt shares his life with his own two dogs, Pheni and Ember, who accompany him on outdoor adventures and provide him with a sense of purpose. When he’s not with them, you'll find him embracing the challenges of CrossFit or exploring the Northern Nevada desert.
